Maintenance of Cemeteries & Parks
The Cemeteries & Parks Division maintains cemeteries and parks owned by the City. These include the Hollywood Cemetery, Greenwood North Cemetery, Greenwood Cemetery and Pike Memorial Gardens Cemetery, and eleven parks.
The C&P is responsible for the opening and closing of the graves. Anyone wishing to purchase a plot in one of the cemeteries may call the City Clerk's office at (601) 684-4000. Plots are not available in the Greenwood Cemetery. If you would like to locate a plot in a cemetery, you may call Leroy Robinson at (601) 684-7562.
Beautification of City Properties
This division beautifies over 60 areas around the City. The process includes (but is not limited to) planting, trimming and cutting of landscapes.
Leaves Pickup Program
The Cemetery & Parks Division in partnership with the Street Division operates the leaves pick-up program each year, November through March. Notice of the leaves pick-up program is published in the local newspaper. Citizens are asked to remove all trash and sticks from the leaves pile, rake leaves to the curbside, and call the Public Works office.
***Note this service is only offered November through March but bagged leaves can be picked up throughout the year.
