Street Division

Limb Pick-up Program

We have a scheduled day for pickup in each area throughout the City in an effort to cover the entire city over a period of 7-10 days.  You may however call the Public Works office to place a work order.  Please allow 10 working days for the work order to be completed before calling again.  Please pile all limbs on the neutral ground by the street, not in the street.  Do not block the sidewalks and ditches.  Place the limbs in such a way that there is no overhanging lines or structures to interfere with pick up.  The truck crane must have enough clearance to operate.  During times of heavy rains the dump will not permit entry of heavy trucks.  This means we cannot pick up limbs during those times.

Limb Pick-up Route

Remember:
As per City Ordinance your piles must contain tree limbs or shrubbery clippings only.  No household or construction garbage will be accepted.  This includes boards, wires and plastic bags.

As per City Ordinance it is the duty of any landscaper, tree surgeon or tree trimming contractor to immediately remove all debris generated that day.
As per City Ordinance limbs are to be no longer that 4 feet and no more than 75 pounds.

Street Sweeping

The City operates a street sweeper program for the major thoroughfares in the City. These streets must have curbs and gutters (ex.: Delaware Avenue, Summit Street, Pearl River Avenue and Bendat).

Street Patching & Pot Hole Patrol

Employees of the Street Division are on patrol filling potholes and patching streets throughout the city. Citizens are welcome to call to report potholes and rough areas.

Mosquito Spraying Program

The summer mosquito spraying program is done at the peak of mosquito season during the night when mosquitoes are most active (mosquito are most active during dusk and dawn). Citizens may request larvicide for standing water areas around their neighborhoods.

Large Appliance Pick-up

The City offers to pick-up large appliances. Please call the office at (601) 684-3497 to request pick-up of these items.  Doors of the appliances must be removed or secured in closed position to protect children from getting closed inside.

*Waste Management

Waste Management picks up regular household trash. They also will pick-up furniture, bagged leaves and bundled limbs. The limbs have to be cut and bundled in 4 feet lengths. These items should be stacked next to your regular trash.

Telephone Waste Management for additional clarification: (601) 276-9302.
